This event will be the farewell concert for Sister Ray, a band formed by students at Sir John Leman High School who now have to split up as most of them are moving on to various universities. The leader of the band, Rob Garratt, is taking a "Gap-year" and will be spending part of it in China trying to teach them how to speak English (and maybe play Guitar?). His only regret is that he can't take the band with him.
Sister Ray's recent appearances include The Brewery in Lowestoft, the Piazza Show bar in Great Yarmouth and the King's Head in Beccles (not to mention the Banham Cider-Shed !). They have been described in the local press as "an experimental rock band with an excellent with an excellent set of originals and classic covers including solo, keyboard and violin breaks. Great performance from an extremely talented group of musicians". The band say that their main musical influences are from the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Jeff Buckley and Velvet Underground. They do a mean cover of Neil's "Down by the River" and various others, but also have a lot of material that is their own composition.
